How to Toast Coconut Recipe



This is a basic cooking demonstration on how to toast coconut in a pan and in the oven. Toasted coconut is great in enhancing coconut flavor in any recipe and adds a nice crispy texture. Toasting coconut is so easy and only takes 5-10 minutes. Toasted coconut is wonderful in decorating cakes, cupcakes and cookies. Tastes great on top of ice cream, yogurt and cream cheese. You can store toasted coconut in an air tight lidded container for up to a month. Stir constantly until you reach the desired toasted texture. Oven Method: Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Spread coconut on baking sheet lined with silpat mat or parchment paper. Place on middle rack of oven. Bake for 3 minutes. Remove, gently stir and bake for 3 more minutes until golden brown. Remove coconut from pan/oven and let completely cool. Store in an air tight lidded container up to one month.
