How To Make Homemade Southern PEACH COBBLER From Scratch Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
PEACH MIXTURE:
6 cups peeled and sliced fresh peaches
1 cup sugar
pinch of salt
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 to 6 grates of nutmeg
*In large sauce pan combine above ingredients except spices.
Cook and stir on medium heat until peaches softened, sauce thickened and clear.
This will take 7-10 minutes.
Remove from heat, stir in spices and slightly cool.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Farenheit
1 stick butter (1/2 cup) - melt in 9 x 13 pan in pre heated oven
BATTER:
1 1/2 cups self rising flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups milk
*Mix above ingredients. Batter will be thin.
Pour over melted butter. Do not stir.
Spoon peach mixture over batter. Do not stir.
Bake at 350 degree Farenheit oven for 50 minutes or until golden brown.
10 minutes before done, you can sprinkle with cinnamon and raw (turbine) sugar.
Cool for 30 minutes before serving.
Enjoy.
